Pushkar is a small town with wide holy beliefs attached to its existence. This religious city comes out as one of the five sacred Dhams in the Ajmer District of Rajasthan. Known as the fruitful of temples, Pushkar gets located at 510 meters above sea level and lies 14 km to the North West of Ajmer. Pushkar is known to have more than 500 temples, but the most important of them appears out as the Brahma temple. Although Pushkar is a home to Lord Brahma, there are other notable temples in the city.
Pushkar, the king of pilgrimage sites has the immense significance for the followers of Hinduism. The epitome of divinity, spirituality and confluence of nature's diversity bring in vision to Pushkar as one of the most ancient cities in the country.
Nestled in the Pushkar valley, the Brahma temple is an important pilgrim centre for the Hindus. This abode for Lord Brahma holds a special place in the hearts of Indian. This only temple in the whole country built with marble is decorated with silver coins and there is a silver turtle on the floor of the temple.
The varaha temple has an image of lord Vishnu in the incarnation of wild boar. The temples of Brahma and Warah are considered equally important in Pushkar. This ancient temple gets believed to be constructed by King Anaji Chauhan (1123-1150).
The gracious temple, Rangji Temple is very conspicuous, due to its south Indian style of architecture. It has a high rising 'Gopuram' typical of southern India.
